Plan Your Lake George Boating Vacation with Yankee Boating

Apr. 13 2022 Seasonal By Yankee Boating Center

Lake George is considered an all-time favorite destination for many. One of the best ways to enjoy Lake George is to get on it (or in it, depending on your sense of adventure). So rent a boat for the day, and be sure to add on a tube or paddleboard for more fun out on the water.

You may be planning your first trip to this spectacular lake or maybe you’ve been coming to Lake George year after year. Either way we’ve put together a list for you to spend your days on the lake boating, meeting friends for an island hangout and soaking in those precious rays that disappear all too quickly.

Where To Visit:
Sandy Bay

Located northeast of the southern basin in Cleverdale, Sandy Bay has been a popular bay to relax at for decades. But you better get there quickly as there’s limited moorings available and all boats must be tied up to one.

Long Island

Looking to spend a day on one of Lake George’s famous islands? Well if you’re near the southern end of the lake head over to the largest island on the lake, Long Island. Featuring multiple docks as well as day use and overnight campsites you can grill and hang out under the sun all day.

Log Bay

On the east side of the lake across from Bolton Landing you’ll find one of the more popular bays to anchor your boat. Log Bay faces west meaning you’ll get that late afternoon sun, and even has trails from the bay up to Shelving Rock Falls. A must-visit for those first time visitors.

Black Mountain Point

Keep heading north and you’ll find Black Mountain Point, located on the east side of the lake at the bottom of the tallest mountain directly on Lake George. This quaint point features multiple docs and campsites to grill up dinner and enjoy the rays as the days wind down.

Red Rock Bay

Another late day hot spot is Red Rock Bay. Also on the east side of the lake just through “the narrows” this bay is perfect for stretching out your day as long as possible due to its positioning facing southwest.

Paradise Bay

As if it needs any introduction with a name like this. Tucked away on the east side of the lake Paradise Bay is one of the most relaxing destinations on all of Lake George. There is no anchoring, mooring or rafting in the bay, and you’ll find some of the clearest water you’ve ever seen.

Looking to stock up?

Don’t forget to swing by the Glen Island store to stock up on food, beverages, and everything else you need to make your day out on the lake perfect.
